This is a crochet pattern to make the New Tote on The Block. It is suitable for confident beginners. The pattern uses the checkered crochet technique which consists of interchanging two colours. We call these your main colour and contrasting colour. As this is a bag, it is one size. It measures 45 centimetres in width, 35 centimetres in height.

Materials used

  • 105 grams of your main colour, example used Cobalt Blue of Cotton Kings Cone 500
  • 105 grams of your contrasting colour, example used Blue Sky of Cotton Kings Cone 500
  • A 2mm crochet hook. A smaller hook than recommended is used, this is to make the bag less stretchy.
  • Scissors
  • A tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Gauge
A 10x10cm swatch consists of 24 sts and 11 rows
If you want your bag to be the same size as mine, check your gauge first.
