New York New York Beanie
This is a fundraising pattern for my late brother, Mino (1971-2004)
This pattern was updated in January 2014. (Current version: 2.3)
This hat is exactly what I need for winter in New York and New Jersey. It covers my ears, yet gives me a relaxed fit on top. If you want a longer hat, just keep knitting until you reach the desired length. I highly recommend using alpaca yarn, as it is incredibly warm.
This hat is a perfect match for my cowl series, “A Long Loop for Mino.”
Skills required:K, P, K2tog
Finished size (unblocked/unstretched): 9”/22cm x 17”/43cm circumference at the widest point of rib edging.
All the proceeds of this pattern will be donated to Minoru Hokari Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Australian National University. My late brother, Minoru Hokari (“Mino” 1971-2004) died of cancer at the age of 32. The scholarship fund supports young scholars who study Indigenous Australians through fieldwork. We are trying to fully fund it to achieve its perpetuity. Please help.
Please visit Being Connected with HOKARI MINORU (www.hokariminoru.org) to meet Mino.
