This is a cute newborn photo prop.
A friend asked me to make her a newborn cow hat: “NOT a Holstein”, she said, “and with little horns”.
I searched and couldn’t find the one I had in mind, so I designed my own. She LOVED it. So I decided to write it out.
You can add an ear-tag by either downloading a template or go to a farm supply store and get a real one (it would look cute).
I have suggested using a size 7mm needle, but I am a tight knitter and I am pretty sure you can get away with a smaller size (just check your gauge first before buying new needles!!)
You can make a couple Cow Bonnets out of 1 skein. Make sure you have some scrap yarn for the little horns (I kept them as small as possible, because most cows don’t have horns anymore……..).
BUT you can make them longer by adding more rows (forgot to mention that in the pattern)!!
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments.
And I would love to see your end results.
