Five colors of sock yarn, lots of soothing garter stitch, and a fun log cabin construction: meet the Next in Line Wrap, a striking unisex design to unleash your color creativity.
The wrap’s two ends are worked separately. After the two ends are complete, they’re joined with garter stitch grafting. The pattern provides step-by-step grafting instructions.
Finished (Blocked) Measurements:
19 inches/48 cm by 72 inches/183 cm
Yarn:
Five 100-gram skeins of fingering weight or sock yarn, with approximately 460 yards/420 m per skein. The following yarns were used for the sample:
--Color 1: Luna Grey Fiber Arts Ariel 75% superwash Bluefaced Leicester, 25% nylon; 464yd/424m per 100 gr skein, Goldenrod
--Color 2: Into the Whirled Pakokku Sock 75% superwash merino, 25% nylon; 460yd/420m per 100 gr skein, Stark
--Color 3: The Fawn and the Fox Otter 75% superwash merino, 25% nylon; 463yd/423m per 100 gr skein, Let’s Stay Home
--Color 4: String Theory Caper Sock 80% superwash merino, 10% cashmere, 10% nylon; 400yd/364m per 100 gr skein, Canyon
--Color 5: Anzula Squishy 80% superwash merino, 10% cashmere, 10% nylon; 385yd/352m per 100 gr skein, Hippo
Of the five colors, only two are used in each log—a main color (MC) and a contrast color (CC). The pattern is named Next in Line because the CC of each log is the MC of the next log.
The sample wrap used the following amounts of each color: Color 1 (gold): 95 gr, Color 2 (dark blue): 75 gr, Color 3 (speckled pink): 65 gr, Color 4 (copper): 95 gr, Color 5 (light blue-grey): 95 gr.
Notions:
--US #3/3.25mm 24- or 32-inch circular needle
--Locking stitch markers, tapestry needle
Gauge: 24 sts/48 rows = 4”/10 cm in garter stitch, after blocking
If your gauge differs from the pattern gauge, the dimensions of your finished piece may be different as well. If you knit at a looser gauge, you may need more yarn.
