NH Gold Dome Baby Hat
This hat was designed for a Granite State baby! It’s an homage to the lovely gold dome on New Hampshire’s State House, built by architect Stuart Park and completed in 1819. The hat can easily be adapted to mimic other gold domes; the topper is optional, and could easily be replaced with a pompom or tassel.
The hat is knit in the round, from the brim up. The optional cupola and eagle are stuffed so they will retain their shape; a small amount of basic crochet is required to hold the stuffing in at the end. I would describe it as being perfect for “adventurous beginners” -- the pattern is long and complicated, but not difficult.
The sample is made with Vanna’s Choice Glamour (I used about half the skein) -- the only commonly available yarn I found (in 2018) that has gold metallic thread in it -- but it would be just as cute in a non-metallic yellow. Any fingering-weight white yarn will do; I used d love to see your work or answer any questions you may have -- email liza (at) thefloweroutfit.com. Thanks & enjoy!
