Nian Gao Rice Cake
This is a freemium pattern for a Nian Gao (rice cake). You can view the basic pattern for free, on my website, or you can buy a more detailed version on Ravelry. The paid version is a 4 page PDF; page 4 is the text-only pattern, for those of you who like to print out your patterns.
You will need a small amount of cream or light brown yarn for your rice cake. (Plus some dark brown or black yarn if you want to sew on some raisins; I recommend 3 straight stitches or a French knot.) You will also need a small amount of toy stuffing, and a darning needle.
NB: Keep your waistcoat stitches fairly loose, if you are a tight crocheter. The rest of the time, your gauge should not materially affect the finished item.
