This asymmetric shawl plays with texture by knitting with two yarns held together for the garter stripes and a single lace weight for the stockinette stripes.
You can easily make the shawl larger by knitting more repeats of the pattern stripes before the initial bind off.
If you want more subtle stripes, you can opt to use only 1 contrast color with your main color. For a soft halo effect, you can substitute a lace weight mohair yarn for the lace weight yarn used here.
If you want a bolder look, use as many contrast colors as you like to make a shawl of many colors.
Change up the stripe repeats to your liking…whether a set repeat or randomly changing when it strikes your fancy.
It’s your shawl. Have fun with it!
