Like a hug from a friend, this scarf makes a lovely gift. A great stash buster project suitable for intermediate or advanced beginners looking for a challenge.

Knitted flat but on 40” long circular needles as the scarf is made into a triangular shape, the majority of the project is simple garter stitch, swapping colours a few times, some simple lacework towards the end and casting off with a decretive popcorn band.

Measurements: 170cm long from tip to tip (183cm around the curve), 41cm at deepest point.

Materials :
337 grams/506metres of 10ply yarn.
5mm 40” circular needles (long needles are required as the piece measures 35”/90cm at the time of casting off)
Darning needle

I’ve used Bendigo Woollen Mills, two balls of Luxury 10ply in coastal blue (164grams/246metres) and shadow (173grams/260metres).

Gauge isn’t critical so you could use any 10ply yarn or yarn that requires 5mm needles.

Techniques:
• Knit
• Ktog - decrease one
• Kfbf - increase two
• Ktog with yarn in front
• Pop - popcorn
• Cast off - regular style

A two minute tutorial on the popcorn bind off can be found on my Instagram: supaknit or email me at supaknit@outlook.com and I can send it to you.
