Night Flier Short Row Caplet
The hunt for the perfect shawl continues. This shape-shifting wrap can be worn a multitude of ways. Pin it with your favorite shawl-pin for a cape with dramatic barbs displaying the short row wedges. Wear it as a scarf and let its points drape at the front. It is perfect as a light shawl or a cozy wrap depending on the yarn used.
Wondering what to do with that fantastic sock or fingerling yarn you’ve been saving? This pattern is perfect as you can use one hank and end where you’d like.
The options are limitless as the amount of yarn used determines the finished size. Photos shown use a 100g Crazy Zauberball, 150g Wollmeise Twin 300g Lady Dee Traumgarne, and Wolle’s Yarn Creations 100g. Directions allow you to make your Night Flier as large or as small as you’d like.
Choose a quickly variegated yarn like Wollmeise multi for a subtle color shift that will accentuate the shape of the wrap. Choose a Schoppel Mystery Ball or Crazy Zauberball for a gradient and self-striping look. For an ombré effect, try Wolle’s Yarn Creations
Approximate Measurements:
300g Lady Dee Traumgarne: 270 cm long, 75 cm wide at widest point
100g Crazy Zauberball: 145 cm long, 60 cm wide at widest point
150g Wollmeise Twin: 155 cm long, 60 cm wide at widest point
Gauge provided is not critical. I suggest not using a tighter gauge but a looser gauge will still look fabulous. I found gauge on 3mm needles but you may need larger needles as I knit quite loose. You will also need 4 stitch markers.
