Night Mitts is a size inclusive accessory pattern for adult fingerless mitts and mittens using fingering weight or sport weight yarn.

Each mitt is ambidextrous, so no worrying about making separate left and right. The fabric is very forgiving and fits a hand circumference from 5.5” (Size 1 relaxed) to 12” (Size 4 comfortably stretched).

Finished Sizes:
The cuff is 4” as written, but can be knitted longer.
Size 1 – Hand circumference 5.5” relaxed -7.5” comfortably stretched/15 cm relaxed -19 cm fully stretched
Size 2 – Hand circumference 6.75” relaxed -9” comfortably stretched/18 cm relaxed -25.4 cm fully stretched
Size 3 – Hand circumference 7.75” relaxed -10.5” comfortably stretched/20.5 cm relaxed - 11.2 cm fully stretched
Size 4 – Hand circumference 8.75” relaxed -12” comfortably stretched/22.2 cm relaxed – 30.5 cm fully stretched

Yarn and Yardage Estimates:
Self-striping, variegated, speckled, tonal or semisolid are all good color options. I recommend wool, wool blend, or acrylic yarn with good recovery.

Size 1:
Fingering: 1.94 oz/55 gr, 194 yds/177 m
Sport: 1.94 oz/55 gr, 178 yds /162 m
Size 2:
Fingering: 2.7 oz/80 gr, 320 yds/292 m
Sport: 2.7 oz/80 gr, 246 yds/224 m
Size 3:
Fingering: 3.1 oz/88 gr, 352 yards/321 m
Sport: 3.1 oz / 88 gr,
Size 4:
The yardage on Size 4 is very close. You may be able to get a full pair of mitts from 100 gr of yarn if you make the cuff slightly shorter.
Fingering: 3.88 oz/110 gr, 440 yds/ 402 m
Sport: 3.88 ox /110 gr, 356 yds /325 m

Gauge:
2 repeats wide (24 stitches) and 11 repeats tall (22 rows) is 2.3”/6 cm wide and 2”/5 cm tall using size 2 US/2.75mm needles.

Stockinette equivalent = 7.5 stitches and 10 rows per inch/2.5 cm using size 2 US/2.75 mm needles

Gauge is somewhat flexible due to the stretchy nature of the fabric.
