Night Sky
This pattern is also available in my So Van Gogh E-Book along with scarves, Almond Blossoms and Irises. Buy all three for $7.00 and download as one PDF.
The Night Sky scarf is another pattern in my Van Gogh-inspired series of crochet patterns. Famous post-Impressionist artist, Vincent Van Gogh, used bold colors to depict his window view of the night sky against a darker town in his Starry Night painting. His night sky view was filled with stars, a crescent moon, the morning star Venus and concentric swirls of light.
My scarf, using fingering weight yarn, is crocheted sideways from tip to tip, and the side shells swirl along the bottom edge, and are crocheted as you go. This scarf is truly a one skein project! You can create this scarf with one 100g skein of fingering or sock weight yarn that is at least 420 yards.
The pattern is an easy four-row repeat after the first several rows of each section. When I found the Malabrigo Sock yarn in the colorway “Impressionist Sky”, I knew I’d found the perfect yarn for my Night Sky scarf. The Impressionist Sky colorway is available in the Malabrigo Sock and Mechita yarns. But don’t worry, any solid color, hand-painted or speckle fingering or sock yarn you choose will produce a beautiful scarf!
