Night Sky Mittens depicts a cozy winter scene, with a crescent moon, stars, and the constellations Ursa Major and Ursa Minor (the Big and Little Dipper) sparkling above a forest and cozy cabin. Enjoy!

Pattern includes charts as well as written instructions.

Optional is the addition of embellishments (using beading or duplicate stitch) on the points of the constellations. Size 6/0 seed beads are recommended (although you can use any size).

The nature of this pattern requires quite a lot of float catching. If you’re unfamiliar with this, there are lots of good tutorials on YouTube, such as this one.

Yarn & Yardage
Worsted weight yarn: approx. 266 yards / 242 meters total (100 yards / 91 meters for each main color, 66 yards / 60 meters for ribbing and thumb color)

Sizing
One size. Finished mitten measures (after blocking): 4.5” wide (9” circumference), 10.5” tall

This pattern creates a larger than average mitten, intended to have ample room to add a lining. (For a smaller size, you could likely scale down the yarn and needle size - however I haven’t tried this so I can’t attest to it).

Needles
US 4 / 3.5mm DPNs, 9” circular needle (optional).

Gauge
7 stitches per 1 inch / 2.5 cm in stranded knitting.
