This pattern provides step-by-step instructions to help you create this night wasp using crochet techniques. It includes pictures to guide you throughout the process and a coloring page to assist in choosing your colors. The pattern is based on a real-life species: the paper wasp. The head is rotatable. If you use wire, the legs, wings, and antennae can change position. Don’t hesitate to be creative and adapt the decorations and embroideries to your own colors and theme! I hope you enjoy making it!

Level: Advanced

Techniques used: Crochet, sewing, embroidery (including couching), crocheting around wires, crocheting in front loops and back loops only, invisible join.

Stitches used: Single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, triple crochet, chain, slip stitch.

As this is an advanced pattern, you’ll need to be observant and pay attention to the details to achieve a neat and symmetrical result. All the detailed instructions and pictures are included, so as long as you are familiar with crochet and take your time, you should be fine.

The night wasp is active in the evening and at night. They are most often seen when the moon is visible, as their stripes can reflect the light. Despite their appearance, they will not attack unless they feel threatened. They exhibit very delicate and gentle behavior, so there’s no need for humans to be scared. Their diet consists mainly of flower nectar.
