If you are planning on making a crochet basket that is both functional and pretty, making a basket with eyelets is a great idea. Cord baskets adorn all types of interiors and are super handy when some small items do not have their fixed place in the house.

The crochet basket pattern Nijole contains photos illustrating how a completed stitch should look like.

The basket is manageable by beginners, because no complex stitches are used. All that you need to know is how to work the half double crochet stitch, double crochet stitch, chain stitch, and slip stitch.

For crochet baskets, the macrame cord is a great choice, because this material is easy to work with. In case you have never tried macrame, I recommend using bigger crochet hooks, 7-9 mm. The only thing is that the bigger the hook, the softer the basket turns out. To make a stiff and sturdy basket, you can use a 6 mm crochet hook. For this particular basket, I used a 7 mm hook, and worked stitches quite loosely.

There are lots of macrame cord suppliers on Etsy, so, if you do not have a supplier in the neighborhood, do some search on Etsy to find the best offer.
