Nimbus Cloud
Inspired by its namesake colorway of Anzula’s Milky Way yarn, the Nimbus shawl lets the gorgeous yarn take center stage by using a simple lace pattern reminiscent of the cloud shapes. By definition, nimbus clouds carry precipitation, so I added columns of sparkling beads to the lace to evoke the look of falling rain drops. The beads also add lovely drape and weight to the beautiful yarn (1000 6/0 4.00mm seed beads) - the lace pattern is charted and has written row-by-row instructions.
This shawl is worked in one piece, from the top down, starting with the firm cast on at the top edge, and is shaped into a crescent with easy stockinette short rows. The deep beaded lace border is worked last. While the lace pattern may seem intricate, it is simple enough for a beginner lace knitter because it uses only basic stitches, all reverse rows are purled, and addition of beads is optional.
This pattern is a part of the Cloud Atlas collection of four shawl patterns, available as Ravelry e-book.
