*****
These mittens are knit in the round from the bottom up. The lattice pattern on the back of the hand is combined perfectly with the stockinette stitch classic pattern on the palm side.
The mittens will keep your hands warm, especially during the severe winter frosts. And your hands will be forever grateful to you!
The pattern includes both charts and written instructions. A detailed step-by-step photo tutorial is also included.
SIZE:
To fit a hand 17–18 cm in circumference around the hand at the widest point; palm length is about 18 cm.
MATERIALS:
2.5 mm double pointed needles;
70 g of worsted/sport weight yarn (250-300 m/100 g); your yarn should be stretchy enough to keep the ribbing elastic.
For the sample shown, Merino Soft Yarn by Le Fil was used (100% merino wool; 125 m/50 g).
2 safety pins;
darning needle;
cable needle;
stitch marker;
scissors.
GAUGE:
28 stitches and 37 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm in stockinette stitch, measured after wet blocking.
If using another weight yarn, make sure that an adjustment is not necessary. Changing your yarn weight will change both the size and appearance of the finished project as well as the amount of yarn required.
Gauge varies from knitter to knitter and strongly depends on your individual manner of knitting. Before you start, it is recommended to knit a swatch to determine your gauge. Go up or down in needle size or yarn weight until you are satisfied with the result.
