Nina's Lace Scarf
This knitted scarf has a 60’s vibe, the lace pattern is easy to remember with a two row repeat, good for advanced beginners onwards.
Pattern is written up in two yarn weights, a standard 12ply/Bulky or 14ply/Chunky.
Any yarn that asks for 6mm or 7mm needles should be fine to make this pattern.
So theres a story… of a lovely lady, called Nina. Her mum died recently and Nina gave me her mum’s old knitting pattern books from the 60’s & 70’s. In one of the books I found a jumper pattern that Nina’s mum made her as a child, it was a stockinette stitch body with gorgeous lace sleeves. I tweaked the lacy sleeve pattern into this scarf. Hence Nina’s Lace Scarf!
Thank you to the mums, aunties, grandmas, nanas, teachers etc that taught us to knit xxx
Here are some below that I’ve made:
Cascade Eco Plus, on 6mm needles. See photos in baby blue. 190 grams, 333 metres, there was leftover yarn from the skein so you could make longer but once finished I found the scarf stretched after wet blocking. 174cm long & 22cm wide.
Bendigo Woollen Mills, Chunky Twist, 14ply, on 7mm needles. As shown in Mint Dove Twist. 273 grams, 311 metres (6 balls). After wet blocking it measured 186cm long & 23cm wide.
Bendigo Woollen Mills, 12 ply Classic, as shown in Seaquest Blue. 319 grams, 415 metres. Just under 2 balls.
After wet blocking 22cm wide & 192cm long.
6mm or 7mm straight needles & a darning needle are required.
