This is a top-down garment, meaning it starts at the neckline and finishes at the hem. The basic structure is Raglan, meaning that the stitches are divided from the beginning into sections for the front, back, and sleeves, leaving 2 stitches between each section to form the Raglan lines. The neckline is worked in 1x1 ribbing, and the front and back are done in stockinette stitch, while the sleeves feature an lace pattern with a 6 stitch sequence. I used 9 natural mother-of-pearl buttons, but you can use fewer by spacing the buttonholes further apart. The number of buttons will also depend on the length you want for the garment. I recommend, after separating the sleeves and the body, knitting the sleeves first to adjust the length according to the remaining yarn.
