Introduction
A crochet dock cover made with cotton lace yarn in a simple mesh stitch. I learned about this stitch from this tutorial.

Meterage
I actually used four different colours of the Sugar Rush variety of this yarn (50g instead of 25g), but the piece barely made a dent in each ball. In total I think one Sweet Treat (25g/140m) may be enough for the whole pattern, but I don’t have an exact meterage.

Colours used
(from top to bottom)

  • Snow White (106)
  • Chrystaline (385)
  • Cyan (397)
  • Tropic (253)

Usage notes
The final piece can be a bit snug at first, just leave it on the dock for a few days and it will stretch to fit. I didn’t block the piece.

The pattern
Terminology:

  • sc: single crochet
  • skip: skip the next stitch
  • (…): repeat the instructions in the brackets

Procedure:

  1. Chain 130 sts
  2. Join the chain using a slip stitch (be careful not to twist the chain)
  3. Chain 1
  4. Sc in the stitch right beside the join
  5. Continue doing (chain, skip, sc), sc into the join and stop
  6. Chain 1
  7. Skip 1, sc into the first sc
  8. Continue doing (chain, skip, sc) until piece measures 8 cm in height
  9. You now have a wide tube. Leave a long tail and with the inner side of the tube facing you, sew up one side of the tube using mattress stitch.
  10. Turn the cover inside out and you’re done!

To achieve the striping shown, change colour every 2 cm in height (10 rows). Remember to weave in the ends when you’re done.
