This is my first published pattern, so do not hesitate to contact me for corrections, questions or suggestions on how to improve on the pattern writing. Better pictures are to come when Mom is feeling well enough to properly model.

This design came about after an ironic bit of frustration over a cat-related incident when knitting up a pair of Wendy Johnson’s Catnip socks. After frogging the tangled mess and re-rolling the ball of yarn, I decided to create my own pattern from the lace element of the original socks. This is the result.

The ribbing of the cuff is brought down to the heel to make a close-fitting and interesting heel. The lace pattern continues right on into the toe section, but ends in just the right place to still be comfortable for the average foot. Either of these elements can be replaced with standard heels and toes, if you choose.

Making adjustments for size should be relatively easy. I accommodated my own large ankles by making the socks with wider ribbing sections and worked more repeats of the pattern to fit my longer foot. The lace and ribbing is very stretchy, so making the sock taller should be very doable without needing to add stitches for the calves.
