Nitmo
Inspired by the lines, ribbing and patches of a leather motor jacket. The cardigan is worked seamlessly from the top down and has a hidden raglan construction in the edges of the shoulder patches. Generous slip-stitch ribbing sections on the front form a warm and sturdy collar. Ready for some rough weather!
SIZES:
This pattern includes 4 sizes (S,M,L,XL) corresponding with chest-sizes (33-37-41-45” or 84-94-109-130cm). Sizing table with finished garment measurements is included in the pattern.
MATERIALS:
Yarn:
Sample uses Zeeman Marl Wool, a multiply 50%wool, 50% acrylic yarn.
109 yards 100m / 100gr, colorway 80 Dark Grey
Yardage:
750 (800, 850, 900) gr Zeeman Marl Wool or alternative: 820 (875, 930, 985) yrd / 750 (800, 850, 900) m of any other desired bulky weight yarn.
In choosing yarn it is important to take into account the ratio weight/metrage. It should be around 1 for optimal drape and wear comfort.
Needles and other:
- For body: 1 circular needle 7.0 mm (US size 10½) 32”/80 cm
- For sleeves: 4 DPNs 7.0 mm (US size 10½) or use above circular needle with magic loop method
- 13 white (or colour A), 6 blue (or colour B) and 2 red (or colour C) stitchmarkers
- cable needle, tapestry needle, waste yarn
GAUGE:
12st x 17rows: 4 inches (10cm) in stockinette stitch
TECHNIQUES:
Next to the usual knitting, purling, increasing and decreasing the following techniques are used:
I-cord cast on
Slipping Stitches
Cables
One piece construction (transferring stitches on scrap yarn and picking up stitches)
Additional Remark
It seems that the I-cordlike cast on can be a bit confusing. I have made a video that shows you how it is done.
