The stocking is knit from the cuff down. Short rows are used for the heel, I prefer German Short Rows but you can use any short row technique you like. To finish the stocking I attach an I-cord loop to hang from. I also line my stockings with felt and then block. To block I lay the lined stocking on an ironing board, cover with a damp thin towel, and then iron. When ironing, I work in small sections lifting the iron frequently and gently pressing, I never push the iron down and stretch the knitting. The hot steam blocks the stocking perfectly and the felt lining has enough structure to hold the stockings shape.
