“No Bother!” is often a response you will hear in Northern Ireland when someone is asked to do something that is simple or easy. When my sister asked if I could knit her a little triangle shawl, just enough to keep her neck warm, of course my response was “No Bother”!!

This shawlette is is worked from side to side, it is more of a recipe for you to play with and add your own twists to. It starts with a few stitches and increases until your desired halfway measurement, and then is decreased back to the starting stitch count. “No Bother”!!

I knit my sister’s version in stocking stitch with a small I-cord edge to help prevent curling. If you don’t like purling, just knit every row. This version is knit in a solid colour, but you could choose any skein or even work it in stripes or add some eyelets. You can follow the measurements given or, if you want to make the most of the yarn you have, weigh it before you start, take a note of the weight, then work Part A with the first half of the yarn and Part B with the second half.

Finished Measurements: After blocking wingspan 203 cm/80 inches & depth to point 36 cm/14 inches

Needles: 3.5mm (US 4) needle (or size needed for gauge)

Yarn: Any fingering weight yarn approx 55g (233 m/255 yds)
(I used deep stash laceweight lambs wool held double to achieve the gauge. It weighs 51g.)

Gauge: 26 sts x 31 rows per 4 inches using 3.5mm (US 4) needle in stocking stitch. Although gauge is not essential it will impact the amount of yarn required.

Notions: Progress Keeper to mark front of work (optional) & tapestry needle to sew in ends.
