No Ordinary Granny
Named for my dear friend Linda who just became a grandma for the first time, No Ordinary Granny is a fun crocheted cowl. As the name suggests it is made up of granny squares, but these are no ordinary granny squares!
No Ordinary Granny features Voie de Vie Yarns Tweedie Too which I was thrilled to sample in six different colour ways.
This design was inspired by all the lovely granny squares posted on Instagram at #grannysquareday2020
Two different, definitely not ordinary, granny square designs are used. These motifs are crocheted separately and joined into a cowl.
You can modify your cowl by working more or fewer motifs and by using as many or as few colours as you like. By adding different square designs, incorporating different joining techniques, or adding fancy borders you can customize the pattern to create a unique cowl.
Since the squares are not worked in the round in the traditional way but are worked in rows, the finished work is fully reversible and makes a lovely long cowl or a delightful scarf.
The sample is 7 inches deep and has a circumference of 48 inches after seaming (18 cm by 122 cm).

My heartfelt thanks to Voie de Vie Yarns for their generous yarn support and to my fantastic team of pattern testers and reviewers: Marlies, Meg, Ruth and Sally.
