No-Purl Horizontal Rib Scarf
This document is more of a description of how to make a scarf using a stitch called horizontal ribbing. It can be done in any size/length using any gauge/weight of yarn. It’s more of a technique for a stitch than a pattern.
-
The no-purl horizontal rib stitch requires that you use a circular cable needle and also requires that you have two balls of yarn even if you’re only making it one-color.
-
The scarf can be done in 2x2 or 4x4 horizontal ribbing, but it must be an even number of rows per rib.
-
Adapting the scarf to different weight yarns and lengths is simple with a small gauge swatch and a little math. The given instructions are for worsted weight yarn on US8 (5 mm) needles resulting in a 5”x98” (13 cm x 250 cm) scarf.
