Are you looking for a good Netflix knit? I’ll be honest and admit two of my samples were knit up while on work Zoom calls. It’s that easy to memorise.

This knits up quick and is a nice close (not tight) fit so will be sure to keep the chill out.

The original working name for this pattern was simply ‘Restrictions’ but then the world went crazy and we (England) went into yet another lockdown. So, now we long for the days of ‘No Restrictions’.

This cowl is knit in the round (a flat knit option will be added in an update later in the year). It consists of simple 2 x 2 ribbing at both ends and a gentle introduction to Mosaic knitting (where you only work one colour on each row and use slip stitches to carry the pattern)

This is written for both Aran/Worsted and Chunky/Bulky weight yarn. Annoyingly, Ravelry only allows me to list it under one yarn weight. (The update later in the year will include 4 ply and DK options).

You will need the following :

Two colours that contrast well (a light/bright and a dark?).

Aran :

  • Colour A = 55g (91m/99y), Colour B = 25g (41m/45y)

  • 4.5mm (US7) & 5mm (US8) 40cm/16in circulars or use magic loop if using a longer cable.

Chunky :

  • Colour A = 70 g (81m/89y), Colour B = 35g (35m/38y)

  • 5.5mm (US9) & 6.5mm (US10.5) 40cm/16in circulars or use magic loop if using a longer cable.

I can’t wait to see what colour matches you come up with so please do be sure to start a project page or tag me on Instagram (@beanieboat).

If you like the look of this pattern it would be a huge help to me if you would give it a like as I have an overflowing notebook of ideas and this helps me understand what to work on next. Your support of my little dream is so appreciated. Every ‘like’ helps and it’s a known fact I do a tiny happy dance each time I get a notification. I am a terrible dancer!
