This pattern is for a small no-sew duck and an acorn (for it to eat)! 2 versions of the duck are included – a plain yellow duck and a mallard duck with a green head and beige body. The pattern also includes printable templates to enable you to make the matchbox and name card, making it an ideal gift, stocking filler or craft fair item.

This project is no-sew (you only have to close the hole at the end) and the duck can be made in around 20 minutes.

The pattern is written in English using American crochet terms and contains loads of photos to help you every step of the way.

You will need:
Yarn of your choice. I used aran weight yarn (equivalent to worsted, weight 4) and my finished duck measures approximately 7cm long and 7cm tall. Using a thicker yarn than this may result in your pet duck not fitting inside the accompanying box.

For the Plain Duck (pages 4 - 5), you will need the following colours:

  • Main duck colour - I used pale yellow (approx. 10.5m).
  • Beak & feet colour - I used orange (approx. 1m).

For the Mallard duck (pages 6 - 7), you will need the following colours:

  • Head colour - I used dark green (approx. 4m).
  • Beak colour - I used dark yellow (approx. 0.5m).
  • Neck band colour - I used cream (approx. 1m).
  • Body colour - I used beige (approx. 7m).
  • Feet colour - I used orange (approx. 0.75m).

For the Acorn (page 8), you will need the following colours:

  • Acorn nut colour - I used beige (approx. 2m).
  • Acorn cap colour - I used dark brown (approx. 1.5m).

Please note - The amount of yarn used will vary according to yarn weight, hook size and stitch tension so these measurements are only a rough guide. The pattern refers to the colours that I used, however these can be substituted for colours of your choice.

You will also need:

  • A suitable size hook for the yarn you have chosen - I used a 4mm hook.
  • A pair of 6mm black safety eyes.
  • A small amount of toy stuffing.
  • Other tools you will need are a needle, some scissors and some stitch markers.
  • To make the matchbox and name card, you will need access to a printer and to print the relevant pages out onto thick white paper or thin white card.

You are welcome to sell the items that you make using this pattern, but please do not sell / share the pattern itself. Thank you.
