This pattern is for a small no-sew penguin and a fish for it to eat! The pattern also includes printable templates to enable you to make the matchbox and name card, making it an ideal gift, stocking filler or craft fair item.

This project is no-sew (you only have to close the hole at the end) and the penguin can be made in around 25 minutes.

The pattern is written in English using American crochet terms and contains loads of photos to help you every step of the way.

You will need:
Yarn of your choice. I used aran weight yarn (equivalent to worsted, weight 4) and my finished penguin measures approximately 4.5cm tall. Using a thicker yarn than this may result in your pet penguin not fitting inside the accompanying box.

For the penguin (pages 4 - 5), you will need the following colours:

  • Main Head & Body colour - I used black (approx. 6.5m).
  • Face & Tummy colour - I used white (approx. 2m).
  • Beak & Feet colour - I used gold (approx. 1.5m).

For the Fish (page 6), you will need the following colour:

  • Fish colour - I used pale blue (approx. 2.5m).

Please Note - The amount of yarn used will vary according to yarn weight, hook size and stitch tension so these measurements are only a rough guide. The pattern refers to the colours that I used, however these can be substituted for colours of your choice.

You will also need:

  • A suitable size hook for the yarn you have chosen - I used a 4mm hook.
  • A pair of 6mm black safety eyes.
  • A small amount of toy stuffing.
  • Other tools you will need are a needle, some scissors and some stitch markers.
  • To make the matchbox and name card, you will need access to a printer and to print the relevant pages out onto thick white paper or thin white card.

You are welcome to sell the items that you make using this pattern, but please do not sell / share the pattern itself. Thank you.
