No-Sew Towel Topper
Pattern is currently unavailable in this Ravelry Shop because the shop is not working correctly and support has not answered any emails. I will be moving all of my patterns to my website by 11/20.
I love towel toppers but I always felt the current way we make them just wasn’t good enough. I don’t like cutting a towel in half or having to sew onto it and I didn’t want to have to make a topper for every towel I might want to hang up. I wanted an item that could be made in one piece using only yarn; no buttons, no rings. But I also wanted a topper that would keep my towel securely in place. My Am Staff mix is a towel thief and will run off with any towel she can find. Even she can’t run off with towels in this topper. So what makes this towel topper so different? The Romanian cord that keeps the towel in place. Don’t worry if you don’t know it. I’ve included a photo tutorial as well as a link to a video tutorial.
Now, I can make toppers to suit the seasons and holidays without ruining my towels. I don’t have to worry about buttons or rings or sewing. I can crochet the entire thing in one piece and add appliques if I want to. And I can display my skull towels all year long if I want to, which I usually do.
I would rate this pattern as intermediate. It is written in US terms. You will need to be comfortable working flat and progressing to working in the round. Alternative starting stitches and Romanian cord are thoroughly explained with separate photo tutorials as well as a link to a video demonstrating both techniques. This pattern has been tested.
Worsted weight cotton was used, but any worsted weight fiber can be substituted. I just like how cotton wears with multiple washes. Other weights could be used as well, if you are familiar enough with the pattern to make the necessary changes for size.
