No Wool Top
This project done by using THICK Yarn and THIN yarn and design “plays on” the effect of using thin yarn with #9 needle, so it creates lacy effect. Thick yarn is used for texture and dramatic effect! This top is perfect as “cover up” over a dress with thin straps or strap-less dress. Tank top will be needed to wear it with slacks or jeans.
Many other yarns option are available, but if you use thick yarn only it might effect the size of the garment. Be ware! If you have any questions, please send me a message. Enjoy!
GAUGE is not crucial but I’ve got 14 sts and 30 rows in 4x4” block and used both yarns: 2 knit rows #1 yarn and 4 rows in st st in #2 yarn. Make gauge just to test your yarn choices!
Color #1 (THICK yarn): 3 (4, 4)_ cones of “Gelsomino” yarn by Mondofil (30g, 78 yds each, 100% Cotton). Color#2 (LACE THIN yarn):_2 (3, 3)_ cones of “Japon” by Mondofil (25g, 273 yds each, Rayon 60%, Japanese Paper 40%). You will need straight or circular needle US#10 and #9. I recommend to use circular needles US#9 about 32” to 40” long.
Another set of yarns has been selected for this project: Queensland Collection Cairns (thick yarn) and OnLine Linie 325 “Sunlace” (thin yarn). Please see photos in Orange colors.
Color #1 (THICK Yarn) - Cairns by Queensland Collection (100g, 60% Cotton, 40% Acrylic) – 2 balls, Color #2 (LACE THIN Yarn) – Sunlace by On Line Linie 325 (50g, 40% Cotton, 33% Polyacryl, 26% Polyamid) – 3 (4,4) balls.
