Here is Santa’s little helper … Noel Gnome. Noel’s beard is knitted in an eyelash yarn to make it super fluffy. Designed by Amanda Berry @fluffandfuzz, Noel is knitted in acrylic aran weight yarns on single pointed needles (not in the round).

NEEDLES
A pair of 4.5mm straight single pointed knitting needles (US 7)

RECOMMENDED YARN
For the gnome Paintbox Yarns Simply Aran; worsted weight; 100% acrylic; up to 25g in each colour. For the beard use a 100% polyester DK weight eyelash yarn, up to 10g in white; King Cole Moments DK is recommended.

NOTIONS
Tapestry needle, toy filling, beads and white felt fabric scraps for eyes, and a bell to decorate the end of the hat.

SIZES
One size only - approximately 20cm tall.

TECHNIQUES
For confident beginners and above, other techniques used include casting on and off, knits, purls, increases and decreases, and seaming to finish. The beard is knitted in the eyelash yarn, and Noel’s hair is embroidered around the brim of the hat after knitting in chain stitch.
