So, here was the situation. 4 years ago, when I first learned to knit, I was showing my first few finished projects to my friend Noel. I then promised I would knit him something and send it in the mail.

That was four years ago. Yep, four. So, now I’m delivering what has been long overdue, Noel’s Birthday Hat. (It was just his birthday. I’m using it to my advantage)

Noel and I were Assistant Store Managers together at the Sears store in Prince George, BC. It was a good job, but getting to work with Noel made it a great job. Sometimes you just jive with a co-worker and Noel was that coworker for me. He was good at his job, hardworking, kind, supportive and had a great sense of humour. Deadpan and sarcastic, the best. He tolerated my occasional juvenile behaviour, like when I changed his computer password to ‘katieisthebest’ and his desktop image was changed to read ‘Katie is Awesome!’

So, this hat is for my friend, Noel, and I’m taking advantage of this opportunity to provide all knitters with a pattern you can knit up reasonably quick, when you have taken 4 years to finally fulfill a promise.

Sizes:

• Baby (Child, Youth, Adult XS/S, Adult M/L)

Yarn:

• This pattern calls for a Worsted Weight yarn. I used Malabrigo Rios in the ‘Aguas’ colourway.

Needles:

• 3.75mm and 4.50mm needles on a 16” cord and 4.50mm DPN’s, or needles on a 40” cord for Magic Loop.

Gauge:

• 20 sts / 4”

Additional Materials Needed:

• Stitch Markers, Darning Needle and Scissors
