Nontrelac
Experience Level: Intermediate
Faux entrelac creates a simple and fascinating scarf. The Nontrelac scarf is an on-trend fall/winter accessory. A wider than average scarf creates a cozy thick wrap around the neck. Lace panels are worked on an angle and jump out of garter stitch edges. Bridging the worlds of lace knitting, bias knitting, and high-fashion textural interest, the Nontrelac scarf is as fun to knit as it is to wear. The lace panel moves across the row naturally as the bias pattern is worked. Lace panels are then stacked off-center from one another as the scarf grows. It feels as though you are building something as you knit this scarf.
Construction Details
The scarf begins at one corner and is increased to attain scarf width. Once scarf width is achieved, stitches are worked on the bias by increasing at the beginning of RS rows and decreasing at the end of RS rows until scarf length is achieved. Stitches are then decreased to finish the final corner of the scarf. The bias shaping occurs in the garter stitch border while the lace panels are worked in the center of the work.
