Norah Cowl
The Norah Cowl is a gentle knit, inspired by Argentine avant-garde artist Norah Borges. Just like her paintings, it is dreamy, comfortable, and welcoming. It features a handsome braid cable stitch for a romantic modern look. And the lovely Comfy Cashmere Merino Wool yarn gives this piece a glorious bounce and softness. It’s a wonderful gift that suits just about everyone: knit one for yourself and then more for your family and friends!
This cowl is knit flat, turning your work at the end of each row. You can choose between a Provisional Cast-On or work a less complicated Long Tail Cast-on. If you do the Provisional Cast-On, you will have to bind-off using the 3-Needle Bind-Off method. If you do a Long Tail Cast-On, you will use the Standard Bind-Off method, and then seam both ends together.
WHY WE LOVE IT — Romantic, comfortable, soft, bouncy, beautiful soft palette.
SIZE — One Size
LEVEL — Intermediate (although it does not require knowing how to knit in the round, it requires knowing how to slip one stitch, yarn over, and pass a slip stitch over. Other than that, it is a very simple pattern, and all techniques are explained in detail!)
MATERIALS — 2 skeins Comfy Cashmere Merino (10% Cashmere, 90% Merino Wool); sample uses color Ivory
4 mm (6 US) knitting needles for working in flat (or size required to obtain gauge)
1 yarn needle
If you do a Provisional Cast-on method, you will need: a few yards of sport scrap yarn, a crochet hook, and spare 4 mm (6 US) knitting needles for a 3-Needle Bind-Off.
GAUGE — 10cm / 4” = 26 stitches + 28 rows (after blocking) in pattern stitch using 4 mm (6 US) needles.
