The written pattern is in Dutch and it has a chart.

Use a woolen 2 ply yarn like Kauni rainbow that has a lot of colors. The yarn for the pattern and background are the same. Just start on a different color for the background and the pattern.
If you have a gradient yarn with less colors the use 2 different coloways so your pattern stays visible on the background.
