Nordic Winds
This package has two patterns: Manos poncho and shawl Nordic winds.
Nordic Winds - asymmetrical shawl, knitted from side to side. The pattern represents double sided lace rib, so the shawl looks the same on both sides. This simple and the same times very beautiful pattern creates classic style shawl/scarf. It could be done in sock, sport and even worsted weight yarn. For worsted weight yarn choose larger needles (size 8 or even 10). It could be worn over the shoulders of over the coat.
I would like to address few words to the knitters, who chose to make this poncho. The pattern does not offer calculations for different sizes. While you will be knitting it, you will be trying it on and making your own decision when to stop the increases.
I like to make garments for myself, but it is not easy to make a pattern for garment, because everybody’s gauge is different. If we would take 10 knitters and offer them the same needles, yarn and amount of stitches, we would end up with 10 samples with different sizes. In knitted garments the gauge could be very critical. For the knitter, it is very important, to take some courage and do not rely on the pattern 100%.
I always consider, the main thing in the pattern is AN IDEA, details could be changed and modified. Your project does not have to look identical to the original. If you like the general style or idea, do not afraid to bring your own touch (add some eyelets to the stockinette stitch part, finish the item with lace or make it wavy etc.)
This poncho is made out MANOS Milo. This is another beautiful yarn from Manos de Uruguay. It seems, this company has endless ideas for great yarns. This is a blend of wool and linen spun in the single ply. It drapes nicely and could be excellent choice for ponchos, scarfs, boleros etc.
Choose three of my designs, and pay only for two! Make sure to put all three patterns in your shopping basket before you check out.
