The unexpected nature of the Aurora Borealis - Nordlys in Norwegian - are reflected in the Nordlys In a Loop Shawl.

My philosophy is that each person should decide how to use their crafting time to create a piece that suits their own purpose. This is why, when I design my patterns, I allow room for changes and personal modifications. Choose your own yarn and colours, and make the shawl as large or as small as you like.

This is an easy and relaxing project, with mostly treble stitches and increases. The easy and striking border makes this a versatile shawl, that can be worn in a variety of ways.
The Nordlys In a Loop Shawl works as a canvas for the gorgeous gradient mini set, or the beautiful, heavily variegated skeins.

Crochet hook
For the DK samples we used 5,0 mm and 6,0 mm crochet hooks.
Use a crochet hook that gives you a fabric that you like.

Gauge and measurements
The sample in DK weight yarn is made to a gauge of approx 18-19 sts per 10 cm, before blocking.
Measurements: Approx 215 cm wingspan, 70 cm at the deepest point.

The gauge within this design is not as important as the fabric that you create. The gauge, however, does affect the size of the finished shawl, and the yardage used.

The pattern has been tested and tech edited for clarity of use.
