I grew up in the mid-Atlantic region of the US, and now live on Lake Superior in the Midwest. Nor’Easter storms are quite common in both areas, and are always awe inspiring. This shawl celebrates the power of a Nor’Easter storm: whipping winds, crashing waves, torrential rain or snow. The shawl is worked in 1 or 4 colors with 7 sections.

Overall size of the shawl is 26” x 91”/66 x 231cm after blocking.

Yarns: Fingering weight yarn: one 430 yard skein in each of 4 different colors. One represents rain or snow (A), one blowing trees or grasses (B), one wind (C), and one waves (D). OR 3 skeins of 1 color. Samples made in Mabel’s Cables Fingering Sock 4 Ply and Three Irish Girls Adorn Luxe.

Needles: Size US3 (3.25 mm) circular needle, 32”/(80 cm) or longer.
