I have always wanted to use a self-striping yarn like Noro, but was afraid to end up with a scarf that was too colorful to actually wear. So I decided to use Noro in small sections with a neutral background. The scarf has a different feel from one end to the other depending on the color spectrum of your yarn of choice. You can also choose a regular color for the short row sections and make a bi-color scarf.

The background is in garter stitch and color sections are done in short rows. By using a circular needle and pushing the piece from one end of the needle to the other before starting the short row sections, you will not have to cut the background yarn and will only have the foreground yarn ends to weave in at the end.

Yarn: 400 yards in background color and 150 yards in the color you choose for the wedges, both the same yarn weight (The sample is in sock weight yarn)

Needles: Size 5 US/ 3.75 mm circular needle (or the size specified on the yarn label)

Width: About 10in (25cm)

Length: About 66in (170cm) or as desired
