North Street
This pattern has been professionally tech edited.
A simple ribbed hat that makes use of those lovely skeins of sock yarn that accumulate in one’s stash. The yarn is held double, making it a much quicker knit than using it single stranded.
The hat features a beautiful and stretchy tubular cast on (which is optional) and centred decreases that don’t interrupt the flow of the seeded rib stitch.
The stretchy nature of this hat means it will fit many different head sizes from 55 to 61 cm (22 to 24 inches) but the range is flexible given the stretchiness of this hat.
Named for the church on North Street in Halifax, where all-ages gigs were held in the early 90s. Ribbed slouchy hats, Doc Martens and plaid shirts were essential attire; this hat would have fit right in.
