North Woods Buffalo Hat
This cozy warm rustic hat was inspired by the True North Toque. It has been a huge hit with my adult daughters and their friends. The pattern comes in one size meant to fit the average adult. I am including 2 gauge options.
It is worked in a classic 1 X 1 band and stranded color work for the main part of the hat.
Version 1 using size 9 and 11 needles
Yarn:
Lion Brand Thick and Quick Solids:
Oatmeal 45g / 28 yds
Black 30g / 19 yds
Cranberry 25g /16 yds
Claret 60g / 38 yds
Important - The put up for the Oatmeal vs. the other solids is different. If you choose to use a solid for the 1 X 1 ribbing, you may need to adjust the CO.
Version 2 using size 11 and 13 needles:
Oatmeal 35g / 22 yds
Black 22g / 14 yds
Cranberry 18g /14 yds
Claret 51g / 32 yds
or
Black 57g / 36 yds
Fisherman Blanc Cass Pescador 18g / 14 yds
Charcoal Anthracite Carbon 51g / 32 yds
The pattern comes with a chart for the color work as well as written instructions. Instructions are also given for making your own faux fur Pom Pom.
