Northbound Hat
The Northbound Hat is a companion pattern to the Northbound Mitts.
The lifted stitch, a very fun to do stitch, is incorporated into the ribbing and creates the deep brim. After the brim, it’s smooth sailing with stockinette until you are happy with the amount of slouchiness. Knit the hat extra tall and it will be super slouchy!
This is a good hat for an advanced beginner. Skills used include:
knit, purl, knitting in the round on circulars and dpns, slipping stitches, lifting the float (instructions given for how to do this), and decreasing using knit two together.
Jitterbug is more of a heavy fingering weight and has a put up of 400 yards and 150 grams. Because of this, both hat and mitts can be knit using one skein of Jitterbug. One skein of lighter fingering weight yarns may not be enough for both the hat and mitts. I used 120 grams to knit the large hat and medium mitts, leaving me with about 30 yards to spare.
