Northsider Hat

The first thing you learn when you move to Dublin is that the city is divided in two, the north side, and the south side. People, accents, slang, traditions varies from side to side. People are proud of being either a “northsider” or a “southsider”. As I’m a northerner at heart I wanted to dedicate this pattern to this lovely folklore.

On the construction:
This pattern is knitted in the round using the magic loop technique. The hat is worked all in 1 by 1 ribbing with a folded brim feature.

Sizes:
One size to fit approximately 45 to 51 cm or 18 to 20 inches in circumference at the widest point, just below the hairline. This is a very stretchy har so please do a swatch and modify the gauge as needed.

Yarn:
For this pattern I used Jamieson’s of Shetland Spindrift, 2 ply 25 g (0.8 oz) by 105 m (114.8 yd)

Yarn Requirements:
2 balls of Jamieson’s Spindrift in the colour Moss Green

Tension:
30 Sts and 33 rounds = 10 cm 4 inch over 1 by 1 ribbing.

Needles Suggestion:
3.25 mm US 3 circular needle or long DPNs

Note: Needle sizes are just indicative. For best results please swatch first and choose a needle size that works for you!
