Welcome to my new design! The 3rd square of this project The Sheep

It’s not a coincidence the sheep squares are launched in June. The sheep have spend all winter at the farmers place to shed for the snow and ice. In June the farmers bring them back to nature to roam around freely. About 2 million sheep are grazing in the outlying fields of Norways every summer, and in September the farmers bring the complete herd back before winter starts.
They find the sheep easily as they wear bells, and when we travel with our campers in nature we often hear the sound of those day and… night :). And sometimes you wake up and there’s a complete herd next to your camper, it’s one of the things why we love Norway so much.

The Norwegian Wonderland blanket is a Tunisian in the round project, a very addictive technique to crochet.

This blanket is designed with squares of 3 sizes 90, 60 and 30 stitches each, which you can mix and match to build your own blanket. You can take as many squares and designs as you like to build the size of your preferences. Or build your blanket in just one size, whatever you want.
(For example with 9 squares of 90 stitches your blanket will be 160cmx160cm)

Every month there will be a new set available here at Ravelry, in total there are 9 sets of squares. The last one is a december design to end with a little Christmas feeling.
In the mean time there will be more video’s with complete square tutorials and a video about how to make a great double tunisian border (in mosaic we name it an envelope border) as well.

I found out that with a little help this technique is easy to learn. So when you’re new to this way to crochet I’ve made a few tutorials at my YouTube channel (mycrochetprojectbydidi) to help you out (and there will be more video’s in time):

You can find the 90 stitches squares as a full tutorial here too

Yarn and hooks

For Tunisian in the Round (TIR) you need a double ended hook, mine are (custom made) by Henryettashooks you can order them here:

https://henryettashooks.co.uk/shop/ols/categories/other-h

My test friend Juliana used the Scheepjes Colour Crafter yarn in the colours Amstelveen and Barneveld.
My yellow/green/brown ones are Hobbii Winterglow in the colours Copper, Avocado and the mahogany shade nr 30.

Both Yarns are DK weight and we’ve used a 5mm hook double ended hook.
As my hooks are custom made I use a 5mm for the forward part and a 4.5mm for the backwards part as the stitch extension is better like that for me. This is personal so please try a test piece for yourself to see what hooksize and stitch extension you prefer.

It’s gonna be a surprise how our blankets will turn out and I look forward what your personal designs will look like!

Have fun and please share them at socials with #MCP #NWL so I can find them or join our Facebook :
