Nostalgia
Nostalgia is a top-down lace shawl using two skeins of fingering weight silk yarn. The pattern is based on the charming 19th-century lace panel called Dayflower, cleverly increased to form a stunning shawl evoking historic times.
I recommend this pattern to knitters who have experience with lace patterns. The pattern comes with charts and written directions, you can choose which to work from: one, the other or both.

GAUGE
16 to 19 stitches / 27 to 32 rows = 10 cm (4 inches) in stockinette stitch with garter ridges (Chart D), measured on the blocked shawl.
Gauge is tighter closer to the edges and looser in the middle after blocking (as is often the case with non-rectangular shawls). Make sure you block your swatch aggressively, otherwise you might end up with a gauge that is actually looser than the one given and you might run out of yarn.
Obtaining the gauge given is not crucial for a successful project, but will affect the finished size and the yardage needed.
