NOSTALGIA CARDIGAN
This pattern has been thoroughly tested. See some of the testers finished cardigans in the Project Gallery
Due to the ribbing and the Aran weight yarn, this cardigan is very warm and heavy.
It has the simple shape of the traditional Fisherman’s sweaters; straight pieces, seamed in shoulders and sides, and buttoned in front, with optional pockets.
• Each front has an extension for a short standing collar (can be folded down).
• The hem is shaped by a smaller hook size.
• The sleeve cuffs are shaped by short-rows.
The stitch used, is inspired by the knitted Fisherman’s rib. Also known as Brioche, Patent rib, or English rib.
To achieve reversible Fisherman’s rib in crochet, the Yarn Over Slip Stitch (Yo-sl st) is used, creating a horizontal ribbing.
To achieve vertical ribbing, the pieces are worked sideways, on the body, as well as on the sleeves and the optional pockets.
