PATTERN INFORMATION
Nosy Neighbour is worked top down and in the round, starting with knit-purl stripe pattern, followed by diamond pattern and a 1x1 rib.
I also wrote a pattern for a matching cowl, available in Malabrigo Ravelry Store: Sense of Direction
Sizes
S (M, L)
Finished circumference: 49 (49, 56) cm / 19.25 (19.25, 22) in
To fit head up to: 53 (57, 61) cm / 21 (22.5, 24) in
Height: 20.5 (22.5, 24) cm / 8 (9, 9.5) in
Shown in size M (purple) on a 56 cm / 22 in head, and S (ochre) on a 50 cm / 19.75 in head.
Sizes S and M have the same circumference but the lengths vary. Size S is kids’ size 3-7 years, size M fits most adults and older kids, size L is slouchy.
Materials
Yarn: DK or light worsted yarn, 150 (170, 200) m / 165 (185, 220) yds.
Purple hat was made in Cascade 220 Superwash (100% wool, 200 m / 220 yds per 100g, col. 1947 Amethyst Heather). Ochre hat was made in Wloczki Warmii Amelia (100% wool, 250 m / 275 yds per 100g, col. Olive Grove).
For best results use smooth yarn with good stitch definition.
Needles and notions:
4 mm / US #6 and 3.5 mm / US #4 needle(s) in your preferred style for working small circumferences in the rnd
1 removable stitch marker
scrap yarn
crochet hook for provisional cast on
Gauge (measured after blocking)
Diamond pattern: 1 pattern repeat of 14 sts and 28 rnds is 7 cm / 2.75 in wide and 7 cm / 2.75 in high.
Skills needed
Provisional cast-on, knit, purl, decreases, yarn-overs, working in the round. Basic brioche would be helpful, but is not necessary.
Take time to make a gauge swatch. If necessary, adjust needle size.
