I think we can all agree Violet Crawley, the Dowager of Grantham is one of the best characters on Downton Abbey. I am certainly not a Countess of any kind. Just a former stage performer that has a ‘job’ teaching ballet and can’t wait for the ‘weekend’ to knit!

Important: the yardage may be off slightly as this hasn’t been tested. I received some requests to make the pattern with yarn over increases instead of make 1 right/left. I hope this helps those wanting an easy to knit pattern. The yarn overs will make the spine more prominent than displayed in the pictures.
