Not just grey
I could easily end up with a wardrobe full of grey pullovers! But in this case I wanted to show off the simple sophisticated details of this sweet henley by using a contrasting color. The result is a figure-flattering, soft and feminine pullover with lots of charming integraty. I found that the contrasting sleeves, pockets and button-band really enhanced the look.
The idea of the sweater started about the same time as my plans on going to Athens took place. I knew I would like to bring along something for photographs in these fantastic surroundings - I just couldn’t miss it!
In the same time I wanted to make something soft and simple - just for the pleasure of wearing it under a milder climate than mine.
The knitting-part would suit most knitters. The body of the pullover is made in the round, as the sleeves. From bust-height the work is continued in sepereate parts and back and forth. No shaping is needed neither for sleeves nor body as the rib-pattern will follow your silhouette. Sleeves are seamed to the back and front. Stiches are picked up for buttonhole-bands and button-bands. The pocket is insert and seamed to the WS of work.
I used the gorgeously soft alpaca-wool from Ilóyarn. You could use similar wool/silk/merino/alpaca/cashmere as long as you respect the gauge. Please note that gauge is in rib-pattern.
PS. I was so fortunate to go to beautiful Athens - and Acropolis was the amazing background for my pictures. DS.
