A DK companion to Yellow Brick Rodeo, this top-down circular yoke knits up quickly and keeps you cozy whether you’re out on the range or visiting your favorite yarn shop.

The spiraling zigzag pattern can be worked with either a solid color as shown here or with a variegated CC for added pizzazz. The yoke is worked by slipping an occasional stitch and uses only one strand of yarn on a given round—no stranding. The bodice is in relaxing stockinette stitch (no purling!) as are the long sleeves, so it flies off your needles!

Q: Wait.  Isn’t this the same as making a smaller size of Yellow Brick Rodeo with thicker yarn?
A:  Actually not!  And here’s why:

Because DK/light worsted yarn gives you a wider/deeper row gauge than fingering weight yarn, if you only work a smaller size with thicker yarn, you can end up with the right bust size but with the underarm halfway to your navel.  Yikes.  But if you cut the yoke shorter to make up for that, you’d get less zig-zagging.

And it’s the zig-zagging of the yoke’s super-easy-to-work slip stitch pattern that makes it so special.

So, I regraded the yoke across the sizes and placed the yoke increases in different spots from the fingering weight one to give each size enough Zig to its Zag:)

The result is one happy-dance-worthy sweater.
